GCN Controller Sometimes Messes Up

My GCN controller's analog stick sometimes acts up, and in game, the character or a cursor will move around. The controller is a GameStop controller, and for me, these controllers mess up a whole lot (For example, my last GameStop controller's C stick broke). The analog stick doesn't always mess up, but should I get a new one anyway? Maybe an original controller?

Try unplugging the controller and plug it back in.  Also, the original GameCube controllers are the best.  It's best not to go with the GameStop one.  You'll have less technical issues.

Like OCARINA98 said, you can try unplugging and plugging back in the controller, and that usually cures the problem for maybe a couple days or so.

However, I would strongly recommend getting an original GameCube Controller instead of wasting your money on another Gamestop Controller. Knock-offs never work the way they should (especially Gamestop's stuff).

Re: GCN Controller Sometimes Messes Up

the only solution that is going to work out with little to no trouble is getting a real nintendo controller[like OCARINA98 and NINTEN94 mentioned]. (corded or wavebird) and use that.

I would get a wavebird as it is a solid controller and is the only wireless controller that nintendo made for the gamecube. Its nice to be cordless but also have the peace of mind knowing that your using a good quality nintendo controller that lasts. the trouble your having is most likely the gamestop controller malfunctioning as they are junk (Madkatz makes them and all their controllers are junk and break) my gamestop 360 controller (madkatz one) broke after using it 6 times.

you can get a wavebird from one of amazon's resellers from $16 to $174 depending on the seller.

Re: GCN Controller Sometimes Messes Up

While it's convient to have a wireless controller, I wouldn't recommend getting getting one for these reasons.

1. You will be tending to lose the controller port quite often since the port and the controller are seperate.  This has happened to me many times.

2. It runs on batteries.  You would have to keep replacing them unless you buy rechargable batteries.

3. After a while the backpiece keeps falling out.  It's very frustrating to keep putting on layers of duct tape.

You won't be having these problems if you had an original GameCube controller which is cheaper than the wireless controller.  Also, if the cord is too short, buy an extension cord for a dollar extra.

Re: GCN Controller Sometimes Messes Up

I'm suprised no one has suggested this yet, but when it messes up, have you tried the controller reset code? X+Y+Start Should fix the problem, until it acts up again, and when it does, just push the controller reset code again and it should fix it. Hope this helps.

Wow, I didn't even know that there was a reset code.  Thanks for pointing that out!
