I have a Belkin router that I use for my 3DS/ computers, and for the most part, it works perfectly. I can browse the internet on my 3ds, view the e-Shop ect. But when I try to play Mario Kart 7 World Wide or Community races, I get a connection error. I know its my router cause I used a friends router and it worked perfectly. Any ideas as to what to do?
Exactly what connection error or error code are you getting?
By the way, you really should not make your username your actual name. I suggest that you PM a Moderator to get it changed.
What does the message in the yellow box say? Also, if there is no object in the way and you are close to the router, then check for wireless interference from other devices.
How could you get your username automatically? When you sign up for Club Nintendo, you put in the username you want for the forums, and it must be different from your Club username.
You can get the username changed by going to a Mod's page (here is one: http://techforums.nintendo.com/people/NOA_TECH_JANE) and going to the top right corner. Then, click "Send Private Message" and request a change.
The yellow box says that you have a locked connection? By locked, do you mean password-protected?
My wireless connection requires a password and i check the devices connected to it and my 3DS is connected.
I did some more research on this and got the following information:
You will need to obtain your 3DS's IP address by accessing your router. You do this by entering your router's IP address in the address bar of your internet browser.
You will find your DS IP address when you check the connected devices in your router settings. Probably under DHCP.
IP address will be the same as your router IP apart from the last bit e.g if your router ip is 192.168.2.1 your ds ip might be 192.168.2.4 depending on how many devices you have connected to your router.
Once you know the 3DS IP, click on DMZ menu option. Enable DMZ and enter the 3DS's IP.
All should be good. From the research I have done this is a common problem with belkin routers.
The problem might also be with Nintendo's MK7 servers. If the above information does not resolve the problem, then you should call Nintendo at 1800-255-3700 (6am-7pm, Pacific Time, 7 days a week) to see if they have any further information.
I tried that before and it still hasnt worked for me. I can go through and try it again though.
Actually, it has been enabled for the past few days using the DMZ option and I still can't connect
The previous troubleshooting tips are the only ones available. You will have to call Nintendo to find out more.
