Unfortunately, it would appear that the Mewtwo event actually ended on February 26, rather than March 6, which explains why you were getting the "There were no gifts to be found." message.

There were some miscommunications with the press, as sources such as Pokemon.com said the date was March 6, while others said the date was February 26. But now that the event is no longer going on, it looks like the 26 was the correct date.

I am also experiecing the same problem as you. My wifi works fine but i could not get the gift. Anyone knows if the event has ended already? Or isit nintendo's server problem? Thanks. Wish i can get my Mewtwo..
