I just got Super Mario Galaxy 2 the other day, and the day I got it the Wii stopped working. I haven't opened the game yet, so its still sealed..... but I want my Wii. I let it sit for a while (overnight), then it worked for about 1 minute (Mario Kart Wii). Then it died again. I've tried the Wii Lens Cleaning Kit; it didn't work. Now I'm waiting for 2 days, if it doesn't work I'll have to send it in...... and pay $85. There goes my work pay......(I get minimum wage.....) Oh, BTW, it clicks three times, then stops, clicks three more times, then gives me error message. The disc doesn't move at all. The time Mario Kart Wii worked, what happened was that the disc actually moved for a bit, I started the game, then it stopped moving. So I think the problem isn't the laser, but what actually moves the discs around. Thanks in advance guys.
It sounds like your Wii's disk motor is damaged and needs to be repaired. You can call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 to set up a repair.
Actually, since it sounds like your wii is out of warranty, you can replace the spindle motor in the drive by itself and save quite a bit of money, 85 dollars is a bit much for a drive replacement, and there are plenty of good instructions out there on how to disassemble the wii. There's another possible problem though, the disk ejection mechanism might be "jamming" the disk so the motor can't spin it. I've seen this happen on some PC slot load drives. If you look around you can get a replacement drive taken out of a working wii for around 50 bucks. If that's too iffy for you, you can always have nintendo replace the drive, for a fee of course.

This does not sound like a job that I would want to attempt on my own - I suggest sending the console in to Nintendo for service. There are a variety of possible causes for this problem, and if you send the console in for service you will receive a new one-year warranty.
You can easily set up the repair online at this page or give us a call at 1-800-255-3700 to speak with a representative.
Thanks, but I don't think I have the screwdriver for the Wii. It has a weird shape, and I don't want to try buying one online, wait a while, try it out, then find out it doesn't work. Plus I need that warranty in case it breaks again. So I'll do what I normally do; have my parents pay for repair. ![]()
Anyway, just to tell you, I think its the laser now. When I tried putting in Super Mario Galaxy 2, it wouldn't work unless the game's name is at a 45 degree angle to the Wii slot. Then the disc starts turning. Anywhere else won't work. Then, whenever a new level comes up, I have to find that "sweet spot" for example, the name has to parallel to the slot for the first level. The end of the first level needs a slightly to the right angle. Of course, after finishing the first level the game won't work, because it needs mutliple "sweet spots", and I seriously would rather send in the Wii and pay $85 then keep putting the disc in and out for every time I hear clicking noises.
Thanks a lot though.
I agree with this. Even if you do not know how to do it yourself you will find someone experienced to fix it who is actually legit and works at a place that does this.
Just sent it in for repair. I've had the Wii for 3 years, and the Wii broke down a week after my warrenty ended. ITS A CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU!!! NINTENDO, I WANT AN EXPLANATION!!!

I am truly sorry you are having problems with your console and it now needs repairs, but I believe you may be mistaken about the warranty, as Nintendo's warranty only last one year from the date of purchase, so if yours had a three year warranty, that must have been something that the store added in or perhaps sold you as an "extended warranty package".
But the good news is that now that Nintendo is repairing your console, they will fully guarantee the repair by giving your console a brand new one year warranty, so if there are any problems with this repair, or in the event something else may go wrong with your console, the repairs will be completely free of charge.![]()
so are you saying you will repair the wii for free
