What version of Wii can I play gamecube games on?

I'm looking to buy a wii, and many of the games I want to play are gamecube games.  In the bundle with New Super Mario Bros, it says that gamecube games are not compatable.  I know the ones with wii sports and stuff work, but i'd like to know what others are.  Is the bundle with Mario Kart backwards compatible, because thats the one I want.  If so, are both the black and white ones?  I read somewhere that all black wii's are not gamecube compatable.

 

Just tell me : is this wii bundle backwards compatible with gamecube games.

As of this posting, all Wii systems except for the systems included in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii + Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack CD bundle will support GameCube games. The newer systems without GameCube support sit horizontally and have the Wii logo printed horizontally to reflect that.

thanks a bunch   i was just worried i'd buy a wii and then not be able to play some of my favorite games ever...  i'd have to smash something.

According to this article- http://technologizer.com/2011/10/17/new-wii-bundle-same-price-new-game-no-gamecube/ -, the Wii bundled with Mario Kart Wii is backwards compatible with Gamecube games.

This is true.  I have the Wii that was bundled with Mario Kart, and it will play gamecube games.

If it has the model number RVL-001 it should work.
