AC:CF 'The game disc could not be read. Refer to Wii Operations Manual for details.'

Just recently I decided to start playing Animal Crossing: City Folk again, so I went through the familiar process of creating a new character and a new town. I had made it all the way to the part where you're supposed to go around to all the houses in the town, enter them, then exit them and talk to an NPC that would come running up to you. However just after I'd enter a house and the screen would go black with the small little loading icon popping up in the bottom right hand corner, a blue screen would appear with the words 'The game disc could not be read. Refer to Wii Operations Manual for details.' and then I would have to power off or reset to get back to the Wii Menu. My disc has minimal scratches and has just worked fine before this. I checked to see if maybe I needed to update my Wii System, but I have Ver. 4.3U. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I don't really know what might cause this. I cleaned the disc and tried the 'creating a new town' process three times, and every time I have gotten the same error at the exact same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

These are the steps you should take for an unreadable game disc: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/gameDiscs.jsp#wont_play

I suggest that you clean the disc with the instructions here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/gameDiscClean.jsp

Also, even minimal scratches could affect the disc's readability.
