can you playgamecube games on the wii
Yes, you put your disk in the same way as a wii disk. The ports for the Gamecube memory cards and the gamecube controllers are in a compartment on the top (if upright) or on the side (if not). You will need at least one Gamecube controller to play, and a memory card if you want to save.
If you have an older model Wii that can be positioned vertically or horizontally then it plays GameCube games as long as you have a GameCube controller (and a GameCube memory card for saving.) Newer models that only sit horizontally do not support GameCube games. One of the ways you can tell the difference is by looking at the Wii logo on the front. If it's written horizontally, it's the newer model, if it's wrriten to be read with the system vertically, it's the older model.
Yes, You can. There is 2 covers at the top of the Wii. Open those and there is 1 for the plug ins for the Controllers and the other is for your memory card. You just pop in your game and play!
This depends. Read this.
There are two different Wii's right now. The first one is the original one capable of playing Wii and Gamecube games. This is RVL-001. It's the Wii that comes with the stand so it can sit vertically. RVL-101 is a revision that removes all gamecube related features. Which means you can't play Gamecube games or use gamecube accessories along with whatever is on that support page that's stated it can't do. The current one Nintendo has on the Wii section of the site is the revision. They've stopped producing the old one so you can only get this one unless you get it used or somewhere where they still have it in stock.
The original, vertically positioned Wii (as most nintendo products do) has backwards compatibility with the system before it. The Wii does accept GCN games. In order to use a GCN game, you must have a gamecube memory card and a gamecube controller. These will both plug into the top of the wii. You just have to open the little piece that is held down. Once you start the gamecube game though, the wii shuts off its wireless function so you will not be able to connect to the Wii remote!
