Looking for new Wii with Gamecube compatibility.

The title says it all. I'm looking for the better, previous generation Wii with Gamecube backwards compatibility. On Amazon.de, and several other websites, I found this one: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004ZL4LHS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF It's the white Mario Kart bundle, and has a vertical stand. But are there today also Mario Kart bundles with the newer generation out, so that the picture could be the wrong one? I wonder because of the low price it is more likely to be the GC less one. Also it appears there is a bloack Mario Kart bundle with the horizontal stand.

 

If not, maybe there is another old version. Has the Nintendo Wii Sports Resort Pack been transformed into the new generation?

From the looks of it (b/c descriptions in another language), the white Wii standing vertically is the GC friendly one.  If you're not too sure I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask the seller which one it is.

I've seen both versions in stores and one way to tell which is which is by looking at the Wii on the box.

 

Wii standing Horizontally (laying on its side) =/= Gamecube compitable

 

Wii standing Vertically = Gamecube compitable

Ok, the white Mario Kart bundle also sells with the newer generation then. I will ask Amazon, but do you know anything about the Sport Resorts bundle? I haven't seen it with the stripped edtion, so is this true?

 

Edit: did you also see the WHITE horizontal Wii with Mario Kart? I've only seen the black one..

 

Edit2: didn't see this before: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/wii_54.html . All bundles can be viewed I think and it says if the Wii has backward compatibility or not . Also stated there that the WHITE horizontal Wii with Mario Kart supports the GC games!

Januar the 5th someone reported on Amazon.de that he received the GameCube compatible Wii. I didn't find any horizontal WHITE Wii with the Mario Kart pack, so I will probably buy it. A bit contradictive with my previous reply, but there aren't horizontal Wii with this bundle I guess?

I would try to look on eBay and maybe in stores and see if they still have the older Mario Kart Wii bundle.

Nintendo is still producing new compatible Wiis.

 

Did some more research and it seems this is the list of the new, GC-less bundles:
- Mario Kart Wii Pack -black- (also a pack from previous generation);
- Wii Family Edition -white-;
- Wii Fit Plus -black- (also a pack from previous generation);
- Mario & Sonic Pack -blue-;
- Just Dance 2 Pack -white-;
- Donkey Kong Returns Pack -blue-.

So Mario Kart Wii Pack -white- is fine, also the Wii Sports Resort Pack -white&black-. Short list from Nintendo which tells you if it is compatible or not: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/wii_54.html. As always: horizontal=new and vertical=compatible.
