Has anyone noticed a shortened battery life since the recent 3DS update?

The past couple days, I've noticed a significantly shorter battery life on my 3DS. Namely, yesterday I kept the system in sleep mode all day after a full charge the night before, and the power LED was already blinking red by the time I got home about 14.5 hours later. I only used the system once to access a StreetPass. Before now, I've never had problems with the system holding a charge in sleep mode, and the only change to my system's configuration was the recent system software update.

The suspended software at the time was either the eShop or StreetPass Mii Plaza. WiFi was on.

Here's another thread where a few other people claim to have the same problem.

You may have overcharged. I haven't noticed a major change in the battery life after the update.

Uh, I don't believe it's possible to overcharge the 3DS system.

Having the 3DS in sleep mode for 14.5 hours with wireless on sounds normal for the 3DS battery.  The update didn't affect screen brightness, 3D intensity, wireless strength, or really anything that could consume more power.

Well, the strength of the wireless signal is always the same when the wireless switch is on.  Processing takes up only a small fraction of the 3DS's power supply, as most of it goes to the screens and the antenna.

It is possible that the battery seems to have less charge because lithium ion batteries do weaken over time.

Updating the firmware on an embedded device like this is essentially like changing the operating system on a computer. This may cause additional power consumption. Regardless, people don't seem to be noticing any significant changes.
