So, I found out last week that Zelda 2 on the Virtual Console has been updated to allow you to set restore points while you play. I've found countless websites talking about how they exist and how much they are appreciated, but I cannot find anything that actually tells me how to use them.
Being able to use restore points would be a huge blessing since I'm fairly terrible at Zelda 2. I know how to save, but that just sets me back to the start point again. So...does anyone know how to set a restore point and then go back to it later?
The option to create a restore point should be available when you press the home button. If you haven't, you should update Zelda II to make sure it is the most recent version.
Well, I just bought the game this week, so my assumption is that its the newest version. If it isn't, I have no idea how to update it. There doesn't appear to be an option for updating individual games...just updating the Wii.
While I'm playing, the home screen has three options: Wii Menu, Reset, and Operations Guide.
The operations guide doesn't seem to mention the restore points. It explains how to save, and it explains how to use the usual Virtual Console suspend feature (hitting home and then hitting Wii Menu, and next time you can start where you left off). The feature I've read about mentions being able to actually being able to save your game, fight an enemy, and start back where you saved if you lose. It's been mentioned for Wii, and people were upset when it wasn't originally included on the 3DS release (it's been updated since apparently)....so I'm fairly certain it exists...otherwise a lot of people are happy/upset about nothing.
Oh, for some reason I was thinking this was about the 3DS version. The Wii version will automatically create a restore point when you press the home button to exit the game. You cannot use this to save a spot, as once you load the game again the restore point will be deleted, unfortunately.
