I know as most of you know peopple getting their consoles back from repair know about this error. You cannot download updates for games or anything from the eShop. It's very strange to me as you can still post and comment on miiverse, run the browser, and download that huge update for the system. Has to be software. I just wish that the nintendo rep i talked to on my original work order had not of pursuaded me to send in my console. I had a dead pixel on my gamepad was the reason i was sending it in. I then told him about the freezing issues and disc errors i was having as well. He suggested that I send my console in as well "just to be sure it wasnt hardware related". I wish i would have waited and just sent in my gamepad. Especially that there was an update that came out two days ago. I almost want my old console back. Another thing, I got a repair sheet back with my console that said they could not duplicate the reported problems. OK.......Then why would you replace a system w/ no problems? Mind boggling. I really hate to return my system but if something isnt done soon, I may have no choice. I think I've played my system a total of 2 days since launch. Disappointing indeed.
It's really hard to. I am afraid to play my games because i don't want to get far and lose all my save data. Guess i need to get an external, but i think those are locked to consoles as well once formatted. I pre ordered my wii u on day one- i have played it 3 times since launch Nov 18th. Got it back wednesday and havent really touched it due to this problem. At least when i experienced the RROD on my xbox i knew it was hardware. Im still optimistic about it being software as i work on computers for a living. I just cant imagine nintendo having "no clue" of what it is. They need to just release the nintendo network ID to multiple consoles which will illeviate the issue. That's what I believe to be the issue- the ID still being linked to the old console.
I agree as a semi-techy person myself. Though its not about the Nintendo ID since I made a new one and that doesnt even work
But yeah I think its just something software/permissions based that has to do with Nintendo's crazy DRM scheme.
Anyway Im in the same boat and won't play til I know I don't have to have my system wiped again. Not making all my Miis a THIRD time, right?
I check every 12 hours or so to see if it's fixed. No dice so far. I'll post here first thing when I know more or hear from Nintendo again!
They called me today to let me know that they are working on the problem. The assured me it was something on their end and that I would not need to send my console back. He said they hoped to have the issue resolved by earlier next week.
Got the same call last Friday afternoon. Have not touched my Wii U in about 10 days. Asked the caller if I should attempt to download the newest system update and was told to wait until I hear back from them, that a software fix related to the 105-0642 problem was coming soon. As I said previously, while I have been a loyal Nintendo fan since 1987 (original NES), I am really disappointed with my Wii U experience thus far. Hoping they will get the issues taken care of soon and that I don't have to send my console back a second time. In the meantime, have not played my system, and, most importantly to Nintendo, have not purchased any additional games as I originally intended.
Not working for me. I just got a replacement console back from Nintendo (without all my data on it ) and I can't download anything from the store. I get the same error code as the rest of you, 105-0642. Supposidly someone will be calling me back in the next couple days to see what they can do about my saved data and this error code.
Same story here. My black Wii-U failed two weeks ago. It had a flashing red light when you tried powering it on. It would not turn on though. Sometimes, it would; however, I sent it back for repairs. I included in my letter in the box a hope they would transfer data if a new system was sent. That did not happen, but I did back most of it up on an SD card anyway. Wii data mainly.
Got my new system today. Downloaded the update. I checked my wii data. It looks like it'll move OK after I play the games. Also, my downloaded games appeared as purchased and redownloaded. Tried to redownload a purchased Wii-U game, and I got this error. Also noticed that none of the apps that came in the update appeared. Tried to play Nintendoland and got a failed update error.
Called the tech support. They just took generic info and said they would call back in a day or two. I've always had really good luck with Nintendo products, but I've already had two major hitches with the Wii-U. Seems to me this problem is revolving around the account ID's and products associated with accounts. It's odd since I was able to tether my old account to the new system with no problem but whatever.
Best of luck to us all with repairs though.
How long did it take them to resolve this problem? I'm getting the same error code after getting my console repaired, I called the number a couple of business days ago but no one has yet to call me back...
