Taken from the DDP website:

If you forget your Nintendo Network ID or Password

At the Deluxe Digital Promotion website, you cannot retrieve your Nintendo Network ID or Password. Please follow the instructions on the Wii U Menu to retrieve your Nintendo Network ID or Password

Re: I forgot my Nintendo Network ID

Great, accept "I forgot my ID" doesn't actually exist anywhere in the ID menu (even when logged in) Sure you can reset your password from there but the email doesn't even refer to the ID. So they allow you to use your real name instead of displaying the ID for your account on the Wii U and nowhere on the console does it actually refer to the ID for anything. So you enter it once, its never refered to again, you certainly cant use it to log in on another Wii U... Different ID for club Nintendo, Wii U, 3DS... So what Nintendo?

Your Nintendo Network ID should show up in your Miiverse profile.

Sign in failed.

  • You cannot participate in this promotion until the day after you purchase games and content at the Nintendo eShop.

Man, Nintendo knows how to lead a wild goose chase like no other.

After you have powered up your Wii U console, you first need to "Select a user" on your GamePad for whichever Mii character you want, then click on the "Miiverse" icon on the lower left-hand side of the menu screen.

Now select the "User Menu" in the upper left-hand side, and in your "Profile" you will see beside your Mii character two names, the bolded in black name at the top is the nickname you are calling your Mii, and underneath in grey is your Nintendo Network ID.

That is odd, have you actually gone through the steps of creating a Nintendo Network ID with your own Mii character?

How to Set Up a Nintendo Network Account

Description:

  • Step by step instructions on setting up a Nintendo Network Account.
  •

  • A Nintendo Network Account can be set up when creating a new Mii profile on the Wii U, or it can be linked to an existing profile.
  •

Important Note:

  • The Wii U must be connected to the Internet to set up a Nintendo Network Account.
  •

  • Your Nintendo Network Account and Club Nintendo account are separate, and each has its own username and password. For assistance with linking an existing Club Nintendo account, click here.
  •

What to Do:

  1. Create a new Mii (How To), or access the User Settings on an existing Mii (How To).
  2.

  3. When prompted, select "Link a Nintendo Network ID."
  4.

    • This option is located under "View/Modify User Information" in the User Settings.
    •

  5. Select "Create a New ID."
  6.

  7. Select a language.
  8.

  9. Read through the Nintendo Network Agreement. Select "I Accept" to agree to the terms.
  10.

    • If you are under age 18, select "Later."
    •

  11. Select "OK" to continue.
  12.

  13. Enter your birthdate, then select "Next."
  14.

How old is the person creating the account?

Re: I forgot my Nintendo Network ID

Okay, I was looking for a number, but I see that it is a name, not a number.
