Re: NINTENDO 3DS XL MEMORY CARD transfer

If you want steps on how to do what Linux2go said, here you go:

How to Transfer Data Between SD Cards

Description:

Step by step instructions on how to transfer data from one SD Card to another SD Card.

Important Note!

Need: Two compatible SD cards or SDHC cards

Need: An SD Card slot on a PC or Mac or a commercially available SD card reader/writer

Do Not: Alter, move, or erase files in the Nintendo 3DS folder.

Do Not: Overwrite data by recopying to the same SD card.

What to do:

  1. Insert the SD card with the Nintendo 3DS data into the SD card slot or the SD card reader/writer.
  2.

  3. Open Windows Explorer (for PC) or Finder (for Mac) and access the SD card.
  4.

  5. Highlight the data and drag it to the desktop.
  6.

  7. Eject the first SD card.
  8.

  9. Insert the second SD card into the slot or reader/writer.
  10.

  11. Using Windows Explorer or Finder, locate and access the SD card again.
  12.

  13. Drag the data from the desktop to the second SD card.
  14.

You can also open your instruction manual that came with the 3DSXL to pages 24-25 which tell you how to safely transfer your old data from one SD card to the next.

But as everyone said, make sure you do NOT alter any of the data. If you do that, it will not read what so ever and you may lose the data you have amasted. And when you do this transfer, make sure you are just making a copy of the data from the original 3DS SD card, in case anything goes wrong. It's best to keep a back-up after-all. To do this, just right click on the 3DS folder on the original card and select copy or control+c, close the window/file, then go to your desktop and right click and select paste or control+V.

Re: NINTENDO 3DS XL MEMORY CARD transfer

Sorry for bumping this thread but I tried to do the exact same thing with my new 3DS with no result. When I go to system management none of my files are there but the space has been taken.

The card is a 2GB - I now have a little bit over 4000 blocks, a empty 2GB card have around 15000 blocks.

Maybe it won't show up in the DS because I put everything into folders?
