Re: Bricked Wii U

Did you do anything to the system? Did it work at one time before now?

Where is the sound coming from, is it the disc drive? If so, does the system start up when no disc is inserted?

Either way, you will likely need to contact Nintendo to set up repairs. As long as the problem wasn't damage inflicted by you, your system should still be under warranty and repaired free of charge.

Re: Bricked Wii U

ah. Yeah, you probably bricked it by unplugging it during the update.

You'll need to send it in to get that fixed. In the future, when you're doing a system update, try to be patient. If it doesn't appear to be progressing, just wait a while longer, and only shut the system down as a last resort.

will the repair be free

Yes, this repair will be free, so give a call to Nintendo's 1-800-255-3700 (6 am ~ 7 pm Pacific, everyday) Customer Service number, and they will set up the repair process for you.

Re: Bricked Wii U

Since this is a very wide spread issue across many Wii U owners, Nintendo's repairing it for free. At least they're not doing what Microsoft did with the RROD... Microsoft made people pay until they were required by law to repair all RROD for free...

Re: Bricked Wii U

it's free because most devices comes with one year warranty and the wiiu just came out that's why it's free. when you get the wiiu back, i think it only comes with 3months.

Not quite true, as Nintendo will actually give a brand new one year long warranty starting from the date of the repair.
