I have recently purchased a Wii U, and after a return of a defective "flashing blue LED" Wii U (a common problem with new consoles it seems), I have a fully functioning Wii U, with one problem; I have forgotten my Nintendo Network ID. I have one with my 3DS, but I have forgotten the ID and would rather not waste time trying to find my 3DS (we recently moved). Is there a way to recover my ID (e.g. email) without busting out my 3DS, or will I have to find it?
Thanks to whoever reads and answers this.
Since (I'm positive) there's only an option for forgotten passwords, you can call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700, or email them via the webform. They may be able to help you recover your forgotten Nintendo Network ID.
The 3DS does not support Nintendo Network IDs, so unless you made one on your Wii U, you do not have one. If you made one on the Wii U that you exchanged, unfortunately at this time there is no supported way to transfer it to the new Wii U. If you did make one on the new Wii U, you should be able to see what the ID is in your Miiverse profile. If you are looking for information on recovering your Club Nintendo username, there are links for a forgotten username or password visible when you click on the "Member Sign In" link on the homepage.
Doesn't the 3DS use NN IDs to link with the eShop? I made this thread specifically because I thought I had made an account with it there which then linked up with my Club Nintendo. I would hate to make a Wii U NN ID to realize that, once I found my 3DS again, that I already had an account there all along and (even worse) I could not attach my Wii U ID with it. I did not make a NN account for either Wii U, however, so I am fine on that front.
I'll trust you, MARIO, that the 3DS doesn't have a NN ID, but are you sure that the 3DS eShop doesn't use NN IDs? I'm sure I made an account there a few years ago. That would be greatly appreciated.
You might be thinking of linking a Club Nintendo account with the eShop, which allows you to register the games you download for coins. If you did download any games, you can check your Club Nintendo account to see if they were registered.
