Wii sound has stopped working

I have owned my Wii for almost 3 years and never had any issues with it untill now. The sound has quit entirerly, I have tried both my aftermarket component cables and my stock AV cables, no dice. Wierless headphones, through my switch box, through different ports on my switch box, direct connect to the TV (27in flat LED) still nothing.

I have updated the Wii software, still nothing. I have tried the same ports of my TV with other equipment (DVD player, XBOX, Satalite TV box) they all work fine.

What is going on here?

Can I fix this without sending it off for repair?

Any other ideas?

Through all of this I am convinced that the problem is the hardware itself but if there is something I may have missed please let me know.
