3DS L/R Buttons...

Hi,

I have had my 3ds for a little over a year (I have the extended warranty) and for a while the R button has been a little sticky. But now, the L button has suddenly stopped working without any warning signs. There was no stick to it, it feels and clicks fine.. Any help with this? Is this problem common??

you'll hate this but you have to send it for repairs sadly.

I wouldn't really say it's common, but you may need to send it in for repairs anyway. Call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 to do so.

Sorry. When you said "yes it is", I thought you thought it was common. My bad.

Re: 3DS L/R Buttons...

This happened to my friend's 3DS. L buttons just tend to break a little too easy. You just need to send it into Nintnento for repair, and if you still have your warranty I'm pretty sure they'll fix it for free because the L button malfuctioning is a Software Problem and not accidental hardware issue. So they cover it.

Re: 3DS L/R Buttons...

If you haven't done anything yet, try placing your mouth over the entire button and sucking in as hard as you can. What would often happen with the Nintendo DSi is that dust would get within the buttons. Placing your mouth and blowing in would work too, HOWEVER that may cause condensation to enter your system and destroy it. That is a small possiblility, if you wish to take the risk. Sucking doesn't work quite as well, but it does work. Give it a try!

Re: 3DS L/R Buttons...

blow into the side of the button and it will work. If it is under warranty send it in. As other posted stated blowing in will work

Re: 3DS L/R Buttons...

There are many videos on youtube on ways to fix this problem.  Many are temporary, and not guaranteed to work, but if your warranty is up, it's a better solution than buying a new one or paying to get it fixed/cleaned.  The solution I use is blowing (without spitting) into all sides of the trigger. usually works

Sorry, but that is actually one of the worse things you can do, as even if you do not spit, your breath will still carry a lot of moisture along with it, and that can cause corrosion and/or a sticky mixture of dust and other foreign material to form within the internal components of the 3DS.
