Need help with Wii remote/sensor bar

My Wii remote and or sensor bar will not work. The only thing I can do once the Wii is on and the screen with all the channels comes on is push the home button and plus minus buttons.  It has sat for a couple of weeks but it worked fine before and it was never moved. I tried all the trouble shooting ideas the web site had but nothings working. I cant do the sensor bar thing with the dots they tell you cause i cant get to that screen. Any ideas ???????

Re: Need help with Wii remote/sensor bar

If you have a digital camera with an LCD screen, you can turn on the Wii, get to the Wii Menu, and look at the sensor bar through the camera's LCD screen. You should see it emitting light. If it's not, then the Wii Remote can't see it which may be why the pointing does not function. If this is the case, check the cord for damage and make sure it is plugged in. If it all checks out like this, you may need a new sensor bar.
