USB PORTS ON WII

Can the Wii operate a portable hard drive through the USB (closest to the outside)

Do I have to go to a third party for software to operate it or can the wii do it?

Apparently the regular nintendo can - so why can't wii?

Re: USB PORTS ON WII

The USB ports are designed for external devices such as Rock Band Instruments Wii Speak, Microphones, and Headsets that are compatible with the Wii. They can also be used to charge devices such as media players, and cell phones.

The Wii does not support an external hard drive. Save data can only be stored on the internal memory and can be expanded to up to 32GB through the SD card slot.
