This has never happend before... Trying to connect with grandkids on WFC with Mario Kart wii. We have played on WFC with other friends in our list including Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and of course friends here in Alaska. Never had problems joining with them on several occasions even though we are in Alaska. Have had disconnects after Joining but never flat out not bieng able to join. Anyway we have tried all day to join with the grandkids in Indiana. we dont get an error message just the message "Cannot join at this time try again later" We did enter their license codes like we have done for all the others and then once we showed up on each others lists we tried to create a room and join but got the message above. We also tried meeting up while the other was playing worldwide and tried regional and vice versa. Same message every time. both systems are upadated and are identical in the settings. Both can play others in regoinal and worldwide. Just cannot join and play together. Any ideas on how to fix this? or at least a place to start? Thanks
It could be a temporary issue. Those happen from time to time. Have you tried playing with them any other days? If trying again another day doesn't work, do you get some sort of error code along with the error message, or just that message itself?
Well, we tried again tonite. Same result... No different error message or error code it just says "you couldn't meet up with this friend. Please wait and try again later". Both parties get the same message from both sides (Ours in Alaska theirs in Indiana) I did forget to mention that we also have played with freinds in the past from Hawaii. We have tried creating the room from Alaska and they try to join with the same resulting message. Then they try to create the room from Indiana and we try to join them with the same result. We have also tried racing worldwide with 1 race and after it finishes try to join up after that using the join friend button at the end of the race (also trying the same tactic from their end) and still get the same result. Any suggestions would be welcome its getting really frustrating.
It could be that you guys have some sort of conflicting internet security between the two of your parties. You and/or the other side may want to look into that a bit and consider adjusting your firewall settings a bit to see if would make a difference. I know when I had trouble connecting to just one friend on Animal Crossing and Smash Bros., he had to adjust his firewall settings to be able to connect with me. Do you know if the folks on the other end you are trying to connect with are able to play with other friends?
Is there an error code?
