Well as the title says my Nintendo 3ds's Top screen is cracked it must have happened while it was in its case and i had headphones in there and i guess while they were in my backpack they smashed something inside cus its cracked on the inside and its just a tiny part to! but it causes the whole screen to be black! im so angry right now and i have no idea what i should do can anybody help?
What GAMEHATERDAD is trying to say is, that you can mail your 3DS into Nintendo, and they will repair it for you. Since your 3DS should still be under warranty, the repair will be free.
You can use this link to begin setting up a repair.
Nintendo will repair systems for free under warranty, if there is a manufacturers defect. They do not normally cover physical damage. But, you should call them anyway. The repair would be around $90, which is much cheaper than a new 3DS, and most likely they will just replace the damaged unit with a new one because it would be too difficult to repair a system with a cracked screen.
Why wouldn't Nintendo just take out the screen and put in a new one? I'm not saying you're wrong, but it seems kind of wasteful for Nintendo to give you a new 3DS just because the old one had a little scratch on it.
they probably just give you somebody else's repaired 3ds that they already repaired earlier so that you get a 3ds back faster. then they probably repair yours later and give it to somebody else who will need a repair in the future. that seems pretty logical.
I just had the same thing happen. Here is my story...
I called the Nintendo support line. I told the guy I broke my New 3ds XL, and he said it would be about $90 to have it repaired with tax and shipping. I told him, ok I was hoping it would be less, I'll just get a replacement screen on line for about $50 and do it myself.
Then he said "ok, lets start the negotiation process"
So he offered to take off the shipping making it $80. I said no thanks, I can do it for $50 myself.
Then he said, ok how about $40 for parts, shipping, labor, everything. He said that this if only available if you call, not online. And he gave me a reference # so I could think about it and call back and get the same deal. He hinted that he might go lower , but I didnt want to push my luck.
The guy was super cool. Im sure if you call and be nice they will do the same for you.
Glad to hear you were able to negotiate a repair when you called in, however please refrian from bumping old posts. The last comment on this thread is nearing 5 years old! I will be locking this conversation to prevent further discussion.
